F-BOMB: Nelson Supercar #001 / 1973 Chevy Camaro

A 1973 Camaro which we’ve caged, mini-tubbed, completely stripped to bare metal and powder coated the entire car. The motor is a 406 twin-turbo making 1540 hp and 1527 lbs of torque.

We are going to prove to everyone you can “have your cake and eat it too.”

We are going to drive the car 300 miles a day, stopping at a race track every day, for 5 days. 1,500 miles and 5 races in 5 days, with no support vehicle. Sounds pretty crazy? Did we mention we are planning on running in 8 second quarter miles?

The "F-bomb" belongs to David Freiburger, Cheif Editor of Hotrod Magazine. This is David's personal car which we built completely at Nelson Supercars to show what can be done with a high tech twin turbo Nelson Racing Engine... and a car designed around it. The 1973 Camaro has been caged, mini-tubbed, completely stripped to bare metal and the entire car was powder coated. The motor is a 406 twin turbo that makes 1540 hp and 1527 lbs of torque. The F-Bomb was debuted at the 2006 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I’ve got a set of fenders from one that survived enough that the sheetmetal is still somewhat recognizable as having at one time been fenders. So, yeah, a bunch of cars got destroyed. However, I can tell you from firsthand knowledge that there wasn’t a single donor car that you would have paid $500 for. Most of them were total junk when our pals at the movie-car barn started to Bondo-form them back into the shape of a ’73 Camaro.

And, yes, the F-Bomb stunt double does wheelies on dirt. Not my fault."
